This exhibit is dedicated to the memory of
Robert Loufek, Photographer Extraordinaire

The photography show Drive-By Shooting is not about fast cars or crime. Rather, it is about slowing down to a stroll through the streets of two towns that long ago slipped off the map of unbridled aggressiveness. A burning house, a carnival, a river baptism, 4th of July in a rainstorm… These are the mecurial play of events unmasked in this exhibit of photographs.

The fabric of life in Sherman and Denison is imperceptible to those who flash by the Town Center on the way to the lake.

The slowed pace of a stroll brings into focus the texture of place as though time stops to reveal a stage set in readiness for the players who make visible the story taking place here. The photographers represented range from two thirty year professionals from Dallas, a career photo journalist, a student one year into the discipline, and those somewhere in between who use the camera among other artistic mediums. Digital and traditional photography including large format view cameras have been used to capture aspects of the unexamined life in Denison and Sherman.

After a month’s closure in August, on Main off Center opens September 15 with Drive-By Shooting. Please contact either Kay Merritt or Scott Goddard for further information at the gallery number 903/ 464-0016, kay-merit@sbcglobal.net
